Party leaders at BNS said they received courtesy calls from the head of state on Monday.

Gabrielius Landsbergis, chairman of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party-National Union, said the president simply congratulated the party on the results of the Seimas elections.

“The first round of the elections is over, we are competing for the second. It is normal that the president does not deviate from political issues, but maintains normal communication,” said Gintautas Paluckas, president of the Social Democratic Party, on BNS.

The chairman of the Labor Party, Viktor Uspaskich, said the conversation was pleasant: “Good, good welcome conversation.”

Dalia Vencevičienė, spokesperson for the ruling Lithuanian Union of Peasants and Greens, Aušrinė Armonaitė, president of the Freedom Party, and Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, leader of the Liberal Movement, also confirmed that BNS had received such a call.

On Sunday, during the first round of the Seimas elections, six parties entered the new parliament: Union of the Homeland-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (25%), Union of Peasants and Greens of Lithuania (17.5%), Labor Party ( 9.46%), Lithuanian Social Democrats Party (9.26%), Freedom Party (9.02%) and Liberal Movement (6.79%).
