Marijampolė County Police reported that a man born in 1958 had found an explosive in Lazdijai district, Kapčiamiestis forest, and put it in his car.
As Marijampolė County Police representative Renatas Siaurusaitis told BNS, it turned out that the man found the explosive while sniffing it, and instead of reporting the incident in such cases, he put the explosive in the trunk and took it away, with the intention to deliver it to some service.
When he saw the policemen on the street, he stopped them and showed them the explosive. The police called the deminers, who took over the discovery.
According to a police spokesman, the explosive was later assessed to be no longer dangerous.
When the explosive was found in a man’s car, the police launched a pre-trial investigation into the incident.
Police warn that when an explosive is found, it should not be touched in any way. You need to call the services immediately.
