According to J. Džiugelis, already in the first round of the Seimas elections, residents of the Vilnius district who filled in the F5 form were unable to vote in their actual place of residence. Before the second round of the elections, J. Džiugelis publicly pointed out that the rights of voters enshrined in the law were mentioned in this way, but the CEC did not take adequate measures. According to the MP, it was clear from observers’ complaints and other publicly available information that in the second round of the elections and again a large number of residents of the Nemenčinė constituency were not allowed to vote for the candidate of their place. of residence.

“Perhaps in dictatorial countries like Belarus, these methods are common. However, in a democratic country like Lithuania, I believe that these serious violations of the electoral law are intolerable, so I appealed to the CEC to evaluate the actions of the members. of the electoral commissions of the electoral districts of Nemenčinė, ”said J. Džiugelis, Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party.

The politician recalls that, according to different data, about 20-30% of people live in the Vilnius district. people who, due to the lack of educational institutions or public services in the Vilnius district, are formally registered in other areas.

“These citizens vote there because the opposite is not allowed, although the law allows them to vote according to their actual place of residence, provided they prove that they live there. This significantly influences the electoral results and prevents the population from choosing the candidate who best represents their interests, ”says J. Džiugelis, who addressed the CEC.
