The Ministry proposes that salaries be paid by transfer

“If the salary is paid in cash, then the employer must provide information to the State Labor Inspectorate at least once a year through the Sodra system on the number of such agreements. We are trying to reduce the administrative burden, that only those who pay in cash only once a year and only on the number of such agreements should provide information, ”said Vita Baliukevičienė, Head of the Labor Law Division of the Ministry of Social Security and Work.

According to her, such information will be available for control inspections and to determine which companies are at risk of “shadow”.

Aurelija Maldutytė, president of the Lithuanian Employment Companies Association, said that when an employee’s salary is paid in cash, the employee should receive a confirmation.

“When a person is paid in cash, they have to get a check to get that money. Labor disputes usually arise when documents are changed after a while, why the employee received the money, why he did not receive it, and the person himself did not receive a document about it. To clarify, this should not be forgotten, ”said A. Maldutytė.

At the time, Kęstutis Juknis, president of the Lithuanian trade union Sandrauga, supported this idea.
“I support the appearance of the root to pay in cash so that a person can sign and receive confirmation,” said K. Juknis.

Ričardas Garuolis, general secretary of the Lithuanian Trade Union Solidarumas, said that inspections in cases where wages are paid in cash should be carried out more frequently than once a year, because in some companies employee turnover is very high.

“Once a year, it is not convenient to check, especially in companies that work with foreigners, because the employee turnover is very high. It happens that two or three work a month, changing employers, which makes it a formal thing once a year. Maybe it is suitable for Lithuanian companies, but speaking, where most of the violations, with foreign employees, this measure will not work ”, said R. Garuolis.
