The Klaipėda Cultural Communication Center has been without a permanent manager for almost half a year, when its long-term director, Ignas Kazakevičius, unexpectedly resigned. The last two competitions ended without results. Furthermore, the editor of the website kulturpolis.lt curated by this center is suddenly fired.
“Offer” for Women’s Day
Irma Stasiulienė, the only employee of the kulturpolis.lt portal, who is an administrator and editor, received on Monday, International Women’s Day, an “offer” from the temporary director of the Klaipėda Cultural Communication Center (KKKC) to resign.
The CCI is temporarily directed by a person involved in the financial affairs of the institution.
The temporary director of the institution, Jelena Žuramskienė, now intends to fire the sole employee of kulturpolis.lt, which could probably spell the end of a 12-year-old cultural website based in Klaipda.
According to the daily Klaipėda, six employees of the kulturpolis.lt portal have changed in the last five months after the departure of the KKKC director, I. Kazakevičius.
The acting director of the KKKC, J.Žuramskienė, assured that the dismissal of the current editor of kulturpolis.lt is not intended to close the portal.
It is said that another person will be appointed to temporarily supervise him until a new employee is found.
“It is not true that employees change so frequently on the portal, their knowledge is inaccurate. Why is the current editor fired? This is an internal matter of our institution, I would not like to reveal it widely to journalists. And why did the head of the KKKC come out? There were such internal things here, he decided and left ”, emphasized J. Žuramskienė.
Did the manager “get out” of work?
J.Žuramskienė admitted that he had contributed to filing a complaint with the mayor against I.Kazakevičius, because “the director did not listen to suggestions from employees who wanted to openly communicate with him.
“I have never encountered a manager like Ignas who accepted the initiatives of all employees with such enthusiasm. It is difficult to imagine what could raise the prestige of that institution now that I. Kazakevičius has left ”, declared the person who did not want publicity to the contrary.
I. Kazakevičius voluntarily resigned as director of KKKC in October last year.
According to the newspaper, there were complaints by the leadership of the municipality and after a conversation with the city authorities, I. Kazakevičius decided to resign.
“They ate Ignas,” said a Klaipeda resident who did not want publicity.
Someone supposedly needed that space. I. Kazakevičius moved from Klaipėda to Vilnius, where he is said to have established the Cultural Center and is working successfully there.
Competitions – no results
Since then, the municipality has been looking for a new KKKC director and two competitions have been announced.
However, the candidate was not selected, although up to four candidates participated in the second competition, one of whom has very solid experience in the management of a similar institution. None paired.
According to the newspaper’s unofficial story, the commission evaluated the candidates with “degradingly low scores” for incomprehensible reasons.
Asta Dirgėlienė, deputy director of the Klaipėda municipal administration, who led the commission, said applicants simply did not get the required number of points.
“There were five candidates, one did not come to the competition and four candidates did not obtain the required amount of points. They lacked that vision, those worldly examples. I would like KKKC to be a pearl of culture, a driving force of culture. The candidates were quite strong, we hope that after the third competition there will be a winner, ”said A.Dirgėlienė.
