The match of the 24th round of the Euroleague between the teams Kaunas “Žalgiris” and Belgrade “Crvena Zvezda” will not be played this week. The Euroleague has announced that due to several cases of COVID-19, the match to be played at Crvena Zvezda at the Žalgiris Arena this Thursday has been postponed to a later date.
The Belgrade club has informed the Euroleague that after COVID-19 tests and positive responses, the team will not have 8 eligible players. Therefore, according to the Euroleague regulations, the match will be postponed with a new date announced later.
Monday’s match against Mega Soccerbet Belgrade was lost by Corey Walden, who is suspected of being COVID-19. Jordan Loyd is the only Crvena Zvezda player to have contracted a coronavirus.
Until now, Žalgiris was just one of the few Euroleague participants, whose schedule this season has not been adjusted either by the COVID-19 problem itself or by its competitors.
