On the list of the team’s most productive players of all time, the 29-year-old offensive defender rose to third place, which he shares with Edgars Jankauskas (10 goals each).

14 min. A. Novikov hit Estonian defender Mattias Kaita with a repeated shot, the ball bouncing off the chest with a rebound.

32 min. Gratas Sirgėdas also scored the first goal of his career while representing the national team in a repeated attempt. Before that, Donatas Kazlauskas hit the shaft.

A few minutes later, the ball entered the goal of the Lithuanian team. However, the Finnish goalkeeper did not count to score aside for Estonian captain Marten Kuusk.

Justas Lasickas could have saddened the hosts even more before the break of the match, but Matvei Igoneno couldn’t beat him one on one.

However, already in the first minute of the second half, A. Novikov created an overwhelming advantage.

Soon, one of the leaders of the team trained by Valdas Urbonas was replaced, and Pavel Marinas, who used the game of passive defense on the other side of the field, smoothed out the difference.

The avalanche of substitutions ruined the game for both teams and the result did not change: the guests won for the second time in a row.

The last time, the Lithuanians managed to achieve two wins in a row, in official or friendly matches, in 2014. Then San Marino was defeated 2-0 in the European Championship team and the Estonians themselves were defeated 1-0.

The Lithuanian national team have failed to score more than one goal per game since 2016, when they were 2-0 ahead of Malta. And they have been unable to stand three times since the 2011 control showdown with Armenia (3: 0).

The last time Lithuanian and Estonian teams played in the Baltic Cup tournament was in 2018, when the Estonians won 2: 0.

Throughout history, these two teams have met 59 times: the Lithuanians have won 28 times, the Estonians 21 times and 10 matches have ended in a draw.

Next Sunday, the Lithuanians will continue their performance in the UEFA League of Nations by accepting Belarus at home. October 14th they are waiting for another match of Group 4 of Division C in their own field with Albania.

We remind you that in September, in the first rounds, the Lithuanian team lost to Kazakhstan at home (0: 2) and suddenly beat Albania (1: 0).
