“When we started operating the market, we were probably the only ones offering really fast service at the time – one hour delivery of everyday products. Still, the e-commerce market has changed in recent years, it has risen to an even more important place than it has been so far. Along with this change has also increased customer expectations, waiting an hour for goods needed here and now seems too long. So today we present our pilot project : LastMile Express, delivery of goods in 15 minutes ”, says the director of the start-up Tadas Norušaitis.
As the report indicates, the basic principle of ultra-fast delivery of goods is called dark shop (in Lithuanian – points of sale exclusively for online sale). The more points of this type a company has in a city, the more customers it can offer this exclusive delivery service.
LastMile Express is currently in the testing stage, so one of the most densely populated parts of Vilnius – the districts of Fabijoniškės, Justiniškės, Pašilaičiai and Šeškinė – has been chosen for this service, where the starter motor uses dark shop infrastructure and can currently offer a selection of 800 of the most popular everyday consumer goods.
“We can provide a fast delivery service within a one kilometer radius from the collection point we use. If the LastMile Express project is successful, we plan to have such collection points in Vilnius.
It is important to mention that the fast delivery of merchandise is also affected by the size of the shopping cart, so the express service is for a small shopping cart, for those goods that are said to be needed immediately. The larger the shopping cart, the longer the pickup time and total order fulfillment time, ”says Jonas Dikmonas, LastMile’s chief operating officer.
According to J. Dikmonas, when evaluating the operational activity of the start-up, it is observed that on average, when delivering merchandise within a radius of 3 km from the supermarket, the total order execution time is about 30 minutes, so that the radius of delivery and use is reduced dark shop at points of sale, delivering goods twice as fast is a task to overcome.
The startup LastMile has been operating for just over a year and currently has more than 130,000. consumer community. LastMile customers can choose products from more than 30 partner stores, and the range includes more than 25,000. goods. In general, the daily goods delivery service operates in the main cities of Lithuania: Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys.
According to the announcement, a part of the Vilnius Fabijoniškės, Justiniškės, Pašilaičiai and Šeškinė districts can test the LastMile Express delivery service in 15 minutes (the possibility of using the service depends on the specific customer address).
