Mom says these cakes were always made according to Aunt Petrutė’s recipe from Akmenė.

“I have to call her. You will surely know this recipe and remember it by heart, ”said his mother.

According to his mother, all Aunt Petrutė Ertenienė squirrels and roosters knew Akmenė. She baked them all her life, and the townspeople bought them because no one knew how to bake such delicacies. Only now, when Petrute is 91 years old, has she been baking squirrels and roosters for the past 20 years just for pleasure, for herself and her husband.

Will need:

  • Flour (from hunch until batter is thick enough, should be thicker than pancake batter)
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 package of butter
  • 1 jar of sour cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder with plenty

Doing: Shake all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Roll out the dough into a hot skillet and wait for it to brown well.

But the main thing that should not be forgotten is to grease the cast iron skillet. It can be salty or smoked. In no way oil or butter. This gives the cake a distinctive flavor.
