The number of cases increased in 24 Lithuanian municipalities and the percentage of positive tests increased in 32 municipalities, the highest figure since mid-December.

Also last week, for the first time since early November, fewer than 1,000 people died in Lithuania.

Dynamics of cases and investigation

The number of new cases detected per day remained stable and the proportion of positive tests among all those carried out in Lithuania was growing. The number of municipalities in the black zone has also increased, as has the number of cases and the proportion of positive investigations.

B. Distribution of municipalities by zones Last week and the week before, the east of Lithuania changed from a red zone to a black zone, and the northwest from a red zone to a yellow one.

C. Apple’s mobility indices show that the general level of mobility in the country reached the November-December level on the day of last week.

D. The acceleration of the pandemic turned positive for the first time this year, reaching + 10% (although the number of new cases decreased slightly, the percentage of positive investigations increased 10% during the week).

me. Currently, there are 24 municipalities in Lithuania, where the number of new cases is growing (17 a week ago). There has also been a significant increase in the number of municipalities where the percentage of positive surveys has increased: there are now 34 (21 a week ago). These are early indicators of a deteriorating epidemiological situation and are currently at their highest levels since mid-December.

Number of patients

Like the number of new cases, the number of patients in hospitals decreased less than the last weeks of last week, but it takes at least a week to assess whether this trend is sustainable.

Deceased

Last week, 201 COVID-19-related deaths were recorded (COVID-19 was identified as a direct cause in 96 cases; another 105 died within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test). The death rate has reached a fixed level in early November and after a 3-month break, we had less than 1,000 deaths per week in Lithuania.
