The Kaunas District Court convicted a long-distance driver from Ukraine accused of sexually abusing a Kaunas woman who was the right age for her mother.

Was enough once

Taking into account the behavior of the accused after the crime – to repent and compensate the victim for the experiences – a sentence was imposed on the Ukrainian, who, including the time elapsed before the sentence, has already served this sentence.

Sergius Dzhevaha, 34, was arrested for almost eight months before this sentence.

In the wake of what happened, he blamed alcohol, which he had not consumed for eight years earlier. However, on that fateful weekend night in November, when he returned from a trip, he opened a bottle of whiskey with another compatriot. And then they both met on a Savanorių bird. in the cafe where he extended the evening.

An enigmatic savior

According to S. Dzheveva, who was accused of rape in Kaunas at the age of 60, his situation became ungovernable when he fell ill in a cafe and went outside to smoke and breathe fresh air. And after a while he saw a woman coming, who for some reason started to follow. And then he attacked.

It would not be clear if all this would have ended if the victim who had been attacked and demolished from behind and who had been raped by S. Dzhevaha had not started to ask for help.

And his cry for help was heard by a resident of an apartment building, where everything was happening in the courtyard, at night on television. And, throwing everything away, he ran into the yard with his son.

The cry of the Savior: “Animal, what are you doing?” He scared the attacker, although he barely understands the Lithuanian.

Leaving the victim on the ground, S. Dzhevaha hastened to flee. And after that he hid in nearby garages for a while before his compatriot, who stayed at the cafe, started looking for him on the phone.

“I don’t understand why I did that,” he yelled as he testified in court, swearing that he would never drink alcohol again.

Found quickly

S. Dzhevaha returned to the cafe only after wandering around the neighborhood and did not tell his missing friend about his adventure and continued to spend the night in this cafe until it closed.

Meanwhile, the aggressor, who had also spent the night in this cafe with friends and decided to return to a nearby house after midnight, walking through the unlit patios, reported the incident to the General Assistance Center when she returned home.

Finding the suspect was not difficult as he frequented this cafe.

I was also able to find a video of the suspect following his victim, who claimed he hadn’t even noticed.

Ruined everyone

Jhevahai was sentenced to up to seven years in prison for this serious crime.

His case was examined in the Kaunas District Court during two hearings. In the first, Dzhevaha continued to participate remotely, via video conference with the detention center. And then he asked for a break from the trial in order to raise money to compensate the victim. This court presented S. Dzhevahai 2 thousand. euro stock. The defendant managed to negotiate with a lawyer appointed by the Lithuanian state for up to 1,500.

S. Dzhevaha had already been brought to the second hearing in this case behind closed doors. “I don’t understand why I did that,” he yelled as he testified in court, swearing that he would never drink alcohol again. It is not known whether the victim, faced with a new confrontation with the accused, or his tears, agreed that this public repentance should be taken into account.

Will not deport from Lithuania

Judge Živilė Bliūdžiuvienė, who examined the case, sentenced S. Dzhevahai to twelve months in prison as requested by the prosecutor, reducing this sentence by one third to eight months, because he fully admitted his guilt. And including this punishment before the sentence for the time spent in prison, S. Dzhevaha had already done it before it came into effect. Since no one appealed the verdict, it took effect Tuesday.

According to Kauno diena, S. Dzhevha’s employer in Lithuania, with whom he had contacted his lawyer, also kept this job in Ukraine. He does not intend to deport him from Lithuania. You will still have to pay the court-ordered costs of the procedure to the victim’s lawyer, that is, 280 euros.
