Neither the victim nor the accused went to the port city to hear the court decision.

Dovilė Sauliuvienė, a representative of the Klaipėda Regional Court, says that the court has increased the non-pecuniary damage awarded to the injured girl to 10,000. euros. Commenting on the custodial sentence, the court stated that all the reasons for postponing the execution of the sentence had been met, so the sentence will be toughened only after additional participation in the behavior change program.

Now an adult, Mantas came to the Tauragė district in May last year, where the teens celebrated the end of the school year on a rural tourism farm. Here, according to witnesses, he interacted with a girl who was invited for a walk in the open air. After they left, Mantas soon returned alone. The girlfriends rushed to look for her and found a broken and beaten jaw that was left lying on the ground.

None of the party participants had any doubts that the athlete was hitting the girl, although he himself, according to the girl’s lawyer, did not speak much and was silent about the circumstances throughout the investigation.

The Tauragė District Court sentenced Mantas to a suspended sentence of three years and four months, postponing his execution for three years. The total non-pecuniary damage suffered by the girl and her father was estimated at 12 thousand euros. The defendant’s family has already paid part of the money. The defendant’s family also reimbursed the costs of the treatment, which amounted to about 4,000. euros. The court’s decision caused general outrage and soon the Klaipėda Regional Court received appeals from the victim’s lawyers, the prosecution and the convicted lawyer.

The Klaipėda regional prosecutor, Aurelijus Stanislovaitis, submitted a request to impose a royal custodial sentence on the child. Mindaugas Vasiliauskas, one of the victim’s lawyers, requested the same fate for the guy. In addition, a major claim for moral damages was presented in the complaint.
