A middle-aged man who had worked as a hockey coach in Rokiškis for many years disappeared in mid-April.

His family members were unable to get him home at night, nor did he answer phone calls. The friend who visited the missing person the day before confirmed that they were indeed drinking together. Later, the owner of the apartment decided to go to bed and asked his friend and his neighbor, who were drunk together.

The anxious family of the missing called the man G. Fittingov left with. Police previously reported that the two were not friends, just acquaintances.

The man told the family that he did not know where G. Fittingov went. The Rokiškis originally made the same claim for the police officers who began to explain the circumstances of the man’s disappearance.

However, such words were belied by traces of blood found by forensic scientists at home and in the car. It was suspected that the missing man could die.

A large-scale search began, with volunteers and officers combing forests, but for several days the effort was in vain.

Finally, the suspect himself confessed to having buried the body. It may be that the murderer would not have been found otherwise. Police said that while combing the forest through that place he repeatedly passed a dog.

According to Valdemara Chodorcevičienė, Prosecutor of the First Prosecution Division of the Panevėžys Regional Prosecutor’s Office, who led the pre-trial investigation, the Panevėžys County Police Corps managed to complete the pre-trial investigation in less than half a year.

Rokiškės, who soon sat down on the bench, was charged with premeditated murder. Aggravating circumstance: the crime was committed while intoxicated. For this serious crime, the Penal Code provides prison sentences of up to 7 to 15 years.

The case was referred to the Panevėžys Regional Court, according to a press release issued by the Prosecutor’s Office.
