The ingenuity of road users in Šilutė will amaze those who have seen it all

Here is one of the last roundabouts with 18 pedestrian crossings, once cleverly named for the Lord of the Rings work. More recently, Ramučių Street was renovated, where the road for road users was blocked by an electric pole. But they found a way to pave the asphalt. And the name of Šilutė sounded all over Lithuania.

A week ago, the reader of “Šilutė News” was surprised by the renewed crosswalk “to nowhere” near the IKI shopping center. Curbs, grass and posts …

Is it done for security reasons?

All of these “ingenious” solutions received a lot of attention from the seashore, and discussions on social media also broke down.

The first stormy comments were received in the traffic ring, where it seemed that more crosswalk signals were needed than in Šilutė.

Among other things, the Pomeranians were outraged that the city allocated funds for such “interesting” solutions.

“Are there no places in Šilutė where it is possible to allocate these wasted funds? The picture is that the entire budget went to the installation of pedestrian crossings at this roundabout,” wrote Irena on the social network Facebook.

The tree guards fell there too. “You go and an explanation of why trees are cut down in Šilutė. Everything is done for reasons of road safety, so that the signs are visible mats,” Vaidas commented on the social network Facebook.

Traction object

Another striking image on the recently renovated Ramučių str. As the Pomeranians say: “a new object of attraction”. Old electric pole in the middle of the road …

Road users found no other way than to pave the road around them. Attempts to reach a peaceful agreement with the energy companies continue. The pillar also received a lot of attention from both the locals and the entire Lithuanian population. People began to actively share photos and videos, and reported on this “phenomenon” through knowledge.

Instead of a crossover – nonsense

Just a week ago, road users updated the horizontal signage of the IKI shopping center site and the intersections around it.

The locals also noticed a paradox here: the newly painted crossing was built “nowhere”. The Šilutė resident realized this and asked: “Where does this crosswalk lead? When walking, not only do you have to climb the meadows, but you also find traffic signs… “According to our reader Vilma, there has been a lot of nonsense of that kind.

Travelers “to nowhere”

The Šilut ancia elder, Raimondas Steponkus, commented on each of these situations. And according to him, the Šilutė road workers have nothing to do here.

According to the old man, 18 pedestrian crossings of the traffic ring were planned in the project. “If the project foresees that so many crosswalks must be in the traffic ring according to the law, that is what we have to do,” said R. Steponkus.

Regarding the column Ramučių st. the old man confirmed that it was planned to grab him from the middle of the street. But it is not yet clear when and how this will be done.

When the old man asked us about the new crosswalk to the IKI shopping center, we heard that “we will have to look.”

According to R. Steponkus, this crossing was not marked by the users of the Šilutė road, but by the region. So Šilutė has nothing to do here …
