The incidence of the coronavirus is decreasing, but at a slower rate: for two reasons

There are more and more municipalities in which the average number of daily cases is 10 days or less (there were 29 municipalities a week ago, 37 yesterday and 39 today). The highest rate of case reduction in these municipalities will largely depend on the effective management of the outbreaks: rapid contact tracing, testing and isolation.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 is steadily declining, as is the overall decrease in mortality compared to late December, when more than 1,400 people died in Lithuania per week and about 1,100 died last week.

Currently, approximately 7% of subjects who received at least one dose of vaccine either had a positive PCR test or had an antibody test based on 6-month data. Lithuanian population. The distribution of this indicator in the municipalities is quite uniform.

Dynamics of cases and investigations: the number of new cases detected per day and the proportion of positive investigations among all those carried out in Lithuania continued to decrease, but we have more municipalities where the number of cases and the percentage of positive investigations increased15 and 23, respectively. (2 and 11 a week ago).

There is also an increase in the number of municipalities where the 7-day daily average is 10 or less – there were 38 of them yesterday (a week ago – 29).

On average, we registered 960 new cases in 7 days, the proportion of positive tests was 10.2%. Incidence of 14 days per 100 thousand. The population was 535 cases.

The acceleration of the pandemic in Lithuania is negative for 24 consecutive days and was around -11% last week, that is, the weekly average of both the number of new cases per day and the percentage of positive tests decreased by at least one 11% compared to last week.

Although the acceleration remains negative, the rate of decline itself has slowed compared to the previous two weeks.

This was partly due to the decrease in research volumes (an average of 8,700 in the last 7 days and 9,320 a week ago), as well as the dynamics described in c): many municipalities have reached a relatively low number of days and further declines may no longer occur. so aggressive.
