A 57-year-old specialist complemented the Nevėžis-Optibet coach headquarters in Kėdainiai Robert Patrick González.

The American coaching career began in 1986 and throughout this time he worked at several well-known American universities. His last stop in student basketball was Seton Hall University, where RP González was the head coach of the basketball team for four years (2006-2010).

After training during his career for the Seton Hall Pirates basketball team, the stuntman worked as a scout for various National Basketball Association (NBA) organizations, and for some time held the position of basketball analyst on radio and television.

The American has spent the past two years in China, where he has worked with the country’s youth teams and served as an assistant coach for the Northeast Tigers team of the Chinese Basketball League Gilin. He was also the head coach at a basketball camp in China hosted by former NBA star Stephen Marbury.

“González is a well-known basketball specialist in the United States. We are happy that he has agreed to join us and we do not even doubt that with his experience he will bring many positive things both in training and in games,” said Virginijus Bulotas, Sporting Director of Nevėžis.

Kėdainiai’s new team assistant Nevėžis-Optibet will be responsible for improving the skills of the basketball players of each team and analyzing the opponents’ play. The specialist has already arrived in Lithuania and has joined the team.
