The president of the Polish Senate on Friday asked the government to drop the threat of vetoing the EU’s multi-annual budget and speculated that this could lead to the country’s accession to the Community.

In his appeal, Tomasz Grodzki paid that the veto could harm Poland’s economic, political and strategic interests.

This is detrimental to the well-being of our country, said a spokesman for the opposition Party Platform (PO). As he speaks, he sees the flags of Poland and the EU on his back.

If Poland loses money to the military for further development and recovery [po koronaviruso pandemijos], and we will leave our European home, history and mons will not forgive you, he says.

Poland and Hungary have caused a crisis in the Community, threatening to veto proposals for a multi-year budget and an economic recovery package affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Both countries, which Brussels accuses of violating democratic norms, do not agree that EU funding should be linked to the rule of law.

Some Polish opposition politicians speculate that the government’s rhetoric could lead to Polexite’s withdrawal from the Community.

The government does not have the power to incorporate companies that have not joined the EU, said T. Grodzkis, adding: Our greatest interest is a sovereign and law-abiding Poland at the heart of a united Europe.
