“Dear colleagues from Vilnius University,

In response to an open letter to me yesterday on the Delfi portal, first of all I regret that the public debate on the situation at the Lithuanian Center for Studies on Genocide and Resistance (LGGRTC), which has been going on for more than a month, it has not grown until now. to a constructive discussion. By the way, strong opposition and inertia prevail. However, in the bottom of my heart I believe that we are united to you by a common goal: the historical foundation and the meaning of the position of the State, after all, according to prof. Vytautas Landsbergis, whose words you quote in your letter, “It is important not to get sucked into the games imposed on the other side by liars of the past, and to go your own way of truth and deed.

Respecting their views and professional competencies, I look forward to a dialogue based on mutual respect and tolerance now and in the future. Your expert knowledge as professional investigators is important to me.
I am always open to constructive discussions, but I cannot tolerate some preformed unfounded irrational accusations or attempts to confront other people, institutions or ethnic groups. I think this is due to a lack of information and perhaps misinterpretations of the opinions that float in the public space.

Understand the seriousness of the current situation, assess the magnitude of the current problems, which have persisted for many years, to allow LGGRTC to function effectively now and in the future, to fulfill all its tasks and meet the legitimate expectations of the Lithuanian people . In the historical memory of our country the quarantine conditions converge, I kindly invite you to an open, constructive and productive discussion. Please report your intentions to participate in the discussion at: [email protected] “, – LGGRTC Gen. Director Prof. Dr. In letter signed by A. Jakubauskas.
