According to the current government decree, the movement ban must expire at night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
Earlier, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė mentioned that, taking into account the epidemiological situation, a decision would be made on whether to maintain the restriction or release it.
“Let’s say they allow people who have a vaccination or a negative test result to move, if it is technically possible to implement it in time for the police to verify it,” the head of government told reporters in the Seimas on Tuesday.
In Lithuania, movement restrictions were introduced in mid-December, and since March 16 they have been lifted in most of the country, leaving only those municipalities where the epidemiological situation is worst.
However, since March 27, the prohibition of circulation among the country’s municipalities was lifted, with the exception of circular municipalities. The government said it was seeking to stop the spread of COVID-19 before Easter.
The cabinet plans to decide on further releases from the quarantine regime on Wednesday.
The universal quarantine in Lithuania was extended until April 30, it was introduced on November 7 last year.
