Last year, the government had instructed the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) to adjust the preferential purchase rates for agricultural diesel in mid-June this year in order to secure 15%. reduction of state budget losses, but the Ministry of Agriculture indicates that they would decrease by 6.19% or almost 6 million. euros.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the demand for diesel is higher than previously expected, so 15% is assured. There is no scope for reducing losses, which would lead to high financial costs for farmers, which could also lead to higher food prices.

The Ministry of Agriculture proposed to increase the preferential purchase rates of agricultural diesel for the cultivation of rapeseed, vegetables, sugar beets, fodder roots, commercial orchards, berry orchards, flax, hemp grown for fiber, as well as fallow scrub and of short rotation, meadows for commercial forage production. , pigs, snails, worms and other animals.

Reduction rates are proposed for bees in cereals, legumes and other crops for which direct payments are paid, where more than 40 colonies of bees are kept. In addition, it is proposed to introduce a new tariff – for corn for fodder and to abandon the preferential diesel for meadows and pastures where there is no active agricultural activity – to which 12 liters per hectare have so far been allocated.

The new preferential diesel tariffs for farmers would take effect from July 2021.

The amount of preferential diesel for farmers is determined based on their declared areas of agricultural land. In addition, farmers can additionally buy up to 15 percent. the quantity of diesel corresponding to the current campaign.
