Until now, the Government Resolution provided that foreigners arriving in Lithuania must comply with the isolation conditions established by the Emergency Operations Manual at the state level (except in exceptional cases).
In addition, you must have been tested for COVID-19 at least 72 hours before arrival and have received a negative response if you come from countries where the incidence of COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) exceeds 25 cases in the last 14 days 100,000 natural population.
As explained by the Minister of the Interior, Rita Tamašunienė, the proposal to revoke the aforementioned requirement is presented because in practice there is a problem of reliability and falsification of these tests, therefore the effectiveness of the application of this requirement raises questions.
“This change is also relevant in the context of assistance to the Republic of Belarus; the test is also necessary to enter from the Republic of Belarus, and in this country the test is currently difficult (a couple of weeks before), so that the proof requirement prevents Belarusian citizens from applying for visa facilitation. Furthermore, the change in the isolation rules has made the proof requirement meaningless as the proofs have been linked to the application or shortening of exceptions to isolation (tests are mandatory in these cases). Other relevant aspects of the tests will be regulated in the isolation rules, “said the letter to the Government prepared by the Ministry of the Interior.
