Dmitry Bial, spokesman for the Ministry of Transport, stressed that mopeds and motorcycles should not be compared because their power varies.
The Ministry of Transport also fears in its conclusion that the proposed facilitation for the acquisition of the right to drive motorcycles could increase the popularity of these vehicles, especially among young people, and have a negative impact on road safety in this age group of conductors.
According to the Ministry, to ride motorcycles safely, it is necessary to have specific theoretical knowledge and practical driving skills related to motorcycle protection equipment (use of gloves, shoes, clothing and safety helmets), visibility of motorcyclists to other road users, risk factors such as slippery manhole covers, horizontal road markings, etc.), the peculiarities of motorcycle traffic and the subtleties of control, which are not obtained by obtaining the right to drive category B vehicles .
Currently, the Road Safety Law stipulates that people who hold an approved driving license to drive from A1 to T vehicles (such as passenger cars) also acquire the right to drive mopeds.
