The Ministry of Social Security and Labor (SADM) proposed to the Cabinet of Ministers to approve the amendments to the Employment Law presented by Rima Šalaševičiūtė, Ramūnas Karbauskis and Rima Baškienė.
They waive the provision that the salary earned when the subsidy is awarded cannot exceed the salary specified in the person’s employment contract prior to the emergency and / or the day of quarantine.
“It is proposed to approve, but also to propose that it enter into force on January 1 and be valid also for the reimbursement of expenses for December 2020,” the outgoing Minister of Social Security and Labor, Linas Kukuraitis, spoke at the meeting.
In the explanatory memorandum, the initiators of the amendments state that the amendments to the Employment Law will have a positive effect on companies and their development.
“Entrepreneurs affected by the effects of the COVID-19 virus on the economy may receive support, that is, a wage subsidy, for all workers who have been declared inactive,” the document says.
The Ministry points out that no additional funds would be needed for implementation, since the measures of the Economic Stimulus and Coronavir (COVID-19) mitigation plan would be used.
Until December 1, 2020, subsidies to wages during downtime were paid 24.3 thousand. employers (204.8 thousand people). 170.8 million were paid. euros.
