The son of Jurbarkas politicians, now an adult winner of oriental martial arts tournaments, Mantas Icikevičius, who attended the meeting on Friday, appeared in court for the rape and brutal beating of a teenager.
Not only the owner of the property, but also the students who participated in the party, mostly classmates of the injured minor, were invited to testify at this meeting.
One of the children stated that he had heard the words spoken by M. Icikevičius immediately after the crime: the sons of the politicians tried to deny their guilt and shouted that their father would elude him.
Vilma, the owner of the house where the tragedy occurred, was questioned at today’s meeting.
“We haven’t seen the whole incident. The children came and reported what happened. We live in the same house. Then we called the police and the ambulance.
The victim looked horrible. His whole face was bloody, even though his friends had already washed it.
No one doubted who was to blame for this, the fact was obvious to everyone. They said he was arrogant at first, and when I saw him, he was already completely calm, confident, he denied his guilt.
Everyone was very excited, even the boys shed tears, “said Vilma.
The young people who testified in court were shocked by the reaction of M. Icikevičius. As they spoke in the courtroom, there was a scream, a scream, as if the words of the rapist’s witnesses made him laugh or scorn.
Did not know the rapist
On the night of May 26, 2019, some 15 students from Jurbarkas and its surroundings participated in a party held at a rural tourism farm in the Tauragė district. In addition to the raped girl’s classmates, students from other schools also arrived, including M. Icikevičius.
The classmate of the brutally beaten schoolgirl arrived with her boyfriend, and the latter also invited his friend.
That friend was M. Icikevičius.
Neither the future victim nor her classmates knew this guy.
I found a clan of blood
According to the lrytas.lt portal, M. Icikevičius, while walking through the territory of the farm, began to harass a girl, and the outcast carried out an extremely brutal attack. She was also threatened during the outbreak of violence.
The student had lost consciousness due to the beatings, and was later admitted to the Kaunas resuscitation clinics.
The rapist was 17 years old at the time and his victim was 16 years old.
The teenager was found in the blood clan by her classmates, who missed her and began to search the area of the house with anxiety.
The images were horrible: seeing the face of a girl horribly beaten, the boys who attended the party could not stop the tears.
“The girl’s face was all bloody, up to her neck,” said Vilma, the owner of the farm, to whom the participants of the party immediately denounced the crime. The woman immediately called the police, an ambulance.
In total, it is planned to interview about 10 witnesses: the victim’s classmates, the owner of the farm, other people.
The school’s lawyer, Mindaugas Vasiliauskas, asked not to invite her to the meetings at this stage of the process; in order not to disturb the victim, it is not convenient to do so. The girl testified before the investigating judge.
He admitted only afflicted tests
During the pre-trial investigation, M. Icikevičius initially denied his guilt, but was overwhelmed by the evidence, confessed, and did so in court.
The lower courts of the Tauragė and Klaipėda districts sentenced the rapist to a rape abuser in Lithuania on probation.
M. Icikevičius was convicted of two episodes of sexual offenses: rape and attempted rape.
At the stage of the resumption of the proceedings, M. Icikevičius’s lawyer changed and wondered why the case was not returned to the lower court, the Tauragė court, but to the appeal court. The defendant’s lawyer said that a just solution would be sought.
During the first trial, M. Icikevičius appealed the verdict for attempting to violate the episode, but has now refused to do so.
He is being treated for almost a year and a half.
The girl suffered a double jaw fracture. After suffering from pain for many months and eating through a straw, she was unable to fully open her mouth again, the pain recurred.
According to lawyer M. Vasiliauskas, the victim still has jaw treatments and dental procedures. The rapist pulled out a tooth and the other teeth had to be specially reinforced.
Ričardas Kubilius, a long-time professor at the Kaunas clinics, head of the Clinic for Facial and Maxillofacial Surgery, told news portal lrytas.lt that he had not seen another such brutal blow during his career.
Psychological help is also provided for the student. After a brutal attack, he began to suffer from shortness of breath. This has been found to be a consequence of stress.
The girl still feels anxious, fearful that someone will leave the house.
Look for a real punishment
In the opinion of the student’s family and the prosecutors, the punishment for M. Icikevičius is obviously too lenient, it would be appropriate to impose a true deprivation of liberty. The crime is extremely brutal and cynical, with grave spiritual and physical consequences for the girl.
Furthermore, the rapist confessed only in the face of distressing evidence, and this should not be construed as an extenuating circumstance. He carried out the attack nationwide while intoxicated.
Tauragė Magistrate Gražina Gudžiūnienė sentenced M. Icikevičius to three years and four months of probation, and the Klaipėda Regional Court Chamber, headed by Regina Bertašienė, which examined the complaints, also released the rapist.
