Little by little they are traveling to the points of sale. Of course, traditionally even more multi-colored flowers will bloom on St. Valentine’s Day, and most of the rings will unfold before March 8, International Women’s Day. In total, Flora plans to harvest about 150,000 tulip flowers this season.
The weather didn’t stop
The Flora company, which runs one of the largest flower farms in Kėdainiai, made the first tulips bloom in the greenhouses in the last days of January.
It is true that at a similar time the farm was happy with the first tulips last year. Only this year the tulips needed more heat, because the weather didn’t really spoil them.
“We picked the first tulips at the end of last week.
On January 29, the first flowers arrived at our shop in the Giraitė market. Now there are tulip flowers every day.
For the first rings we ask for 60 cents each.
It’s true that this year we had to be more flexible, because the weather didn’t really pamper me, it was very cold, it snowed a lot, so I had to burn a lot, there was a lot of extra work, “said Andrius. Valevičius, director of Flora.
Provides all of Lithuania
The tulips that bloomed in the greenhouses of Kėdainiai will soon travel all over Lithuania.
Those who want to buy tulips cheaper than in the outlets can come directly to the greenhouse located on Vilniaus street in Kėdainiai.
“It just came to our attention then. We are glad that in Kėdainiai, these flowers traditionally bloom first and foremost on our farm.
Even more flowers will unfurl on St. Valentine’s Day, and most will bloom before March 8, International Women’s Day.
In total, we plan to collect around 150 thousand tulip flowers this season ”, revealed the head of the greenhouse.
Trends do not change
According to the head of the greenhouse, this year’s trends are similar to those of last year or the previous one. Most, according to him, customers love the traditional red and yellow flowers. There is also a demand for variegated tulips.
“Every year those colors and species increase.
We currently grow around 20 varieties of multi-colored tulips.
Of course, there are mostly traditional yellow, red and variegated tulips. There are even two dozen varieties of flowers, in different colors and shades.
Our advantage is freshness. Tulips always arrive at the points of sale fresh, fresh, so they bloom when the stems are cut, for up to two weeks, ”said the director.
