Students in difficulty would go back to schools

The Quarantine Amendment Document states that the purpose of this amendment is to help primary, basic and secondary education students from vulnerable families who do not have access to homeschooling and therefore miss school. Care services and the opportunity to study remotely from school, childcare centers or youth centers would be provided.

This must be guaranteed by the municipal administrations, in addition to providing care and restoration services, guaranteeing the required security requirements.

This will be done in two cases:

  • when parents, adoptive parents, guardians, representatives are required by law to perform job functions (work) in the workplace and cannot care for children educated in accordance with the primary home education program;
  • When children educated in primary, basic and secondary education programs do not have the conditions to study at home or for other objective reasons, further assistance for distance education is needed by decision of the school child welfare commission.

Support bubble release

The government has decided to allow so-called support bubbles. During quarantine, many lonely and disabled people experience more stress, so the procedure is changed to provide emotional and practical help.

Therefore, it has been decided to allow close contacts between two families and / or two households, provided that in one of them there is no more than one adult and / or their minor children (adopted, adoptive) or a person who needs constant care and attention .

Support bubble participants will be prohibited from having other close contact with other people at work or elsewhere due to the potential risk of becoming infected with the coronavirus.

Such closely related family members and / or household members could also move from one municipality to another if they are in different municipalities.

This procedure will go into effect on Thursday, January 21.

There will be no room for abuse

At the meeting, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė stated that the changes are minimal so far.

“The so-called social bubble is minimal, while we are in the worst stage, although with positive dynamics. It is like a moral debt to people who feel lonely and feel a high enough psychological stress. That decision has already matured, ”Prime Minister I. Šimonytė said at the government meeting.

The Minister of the Interior, Agnė Bilotait declaró, declared that there will be no abuses due to the place of movement between municipalities. He will take the necessary measures with the police.
