The farm was inspected by environmentalists during the raid with information, and they found an illegal place to handle and skin animals and two dressed deer in the farm buildings. For this, the person will have to compensate the damage caused to the environment – almost 2800 euros.
Inspections of farm buildings also revealed a number of prohibited hunting and fishing gear: animal traps, limb traps, construction nets and spears.
“Traps and snares are a very cruel trapping method, since a seriously injured animal suffers for a long time before dying. Therefore, each clarified case is of particular importance to environmentalists. Therefore, we sincerely ask everyone people who know about these poachers to inform us without hesitation, ”says Aringas Janulevičius, chief specialist at Alytus GGAI.
The owner of the family property is responsible for the following crimes under the Code of Administrative Offenses:
- the possession, manufacture, purchase or sale of game loops carries a fine of between 300 and 860 euros,
- Hunting with prohibited gear, means, hunting methods carries a fine of 600 to 1700 euros,
- The illegal manufacture, sale, acquisition or possession of fishing gear (other than electric or ultrasonic fishing gear) whose use is prohibited by law will be punished with a fine of between 60 and 200 euros.
Officials from the Alytus Wildlife Protection Inspectorate regularly inspect hunters, conduct raids, and verify available information related to hunting violations.
