The festive procession had already become the nail of the sea party, and the companies and organizations that traveled during the procession tried to be as original as possible. Various attributes, decorations, unconventional solutions, screaming, rolling maritime vehicles spread a festive atmosphere in the port city. The coronavirus forced to search for different solutions this year, as thousands of people and guests lined up in the central streets of the city to see the procession.

“We were looking for a way to open up. After all, we have to raise the flag of the Sea Festival …” – said V. Ulevičienė.

The festive beginning of this year will resonate in the canyons, its volleys will announce that the Festival of the Sea has already begun. The start of the party will be a candlelight parade, where eight sailboats can be seen. Citizens and guests will be able to admire both the ships of our country and the guests of Estonia, Poland and Germany. Among the participants is an impressive sailing ship from Germany “Santa Barbara”, which once visited the port city.

“After the consultation, we will have a candlelight parade. It will not be massive, it is an attempt to march, a parade on the water. Let’s hope it succeeds, becoming a long tradition. The parade on the water will take place on Friday in place of the march and will announce the opening of the Sea Festival. There will be sound, smoke, cannons “speaking” from the boats and from the shore. The Klaipeda University “Brabander” sailboat will become the guide for the march. Returning to the shore, he raised the flag of the Festival of the Sea. Let’s hope the tradition becomes interesting. Let’s show that the holidays can be safe, we can do it in any conditions, “said V. Ulevičienė.

According to Romualdas Adomavičius, a deputy from the Lithuanian Maritime Museum, there used to be a living tradition when a ship entering the port greeted the city and country with cannon fireworks. So this opening ceremony will be a kind of interpretation. The cannons will speak between the shore and the ships.

Cannons will be placed on all ships. After passing the cruise terminal, the boats will greet the shore and rescue the ship from the shore. A famous and impressive ceremony will mark the beginning of the celebration.

The event will air this year on Sea Festival TV, which begins on Friday at 5 p.m., so even those who are home or fear security will be able to see the echoes of the festival.

There will be no major events.

Organizers emphasize that this year they want to celebrate an annual, but safe, responsible and interactive celebration. This year there will be no big festive stages in the Cruise Terminal and Plaza del Teatro, nor big fireworks. The Sea Festival program becomes performances that last up to 15 minutes and will immerse you in various places in the old town. According to the organizers, the events will come, go and come to the guests themselves. Throughout the old town it will be possible to see theaters, musical performances, various attractions and initiatives. Events will come unexpectedly, so don’t be surprised if the truck stops and this driving platform turns into a concert stage. In it you will see “The Roop”, Saulius Prussia, Vidas Bareikis and other artists. Performances in one place will delight 15 minutes, and then the curtain will drop and artists will travel to find other guests of the celebration in another space.

“Look, don’t hurry, the winds will blow not only in your head, but also between you,” said Rūta Steponavičienė, one of the festival’s organizers, at the press conference.
