“It just came to our attention then. That picture is right in front of my eyes,” residents of the apartment building said of the event that took place Tuesday night, when a man threw a dog out the window on Vilties Street. They had to see a man carrying a dead dog in a container with bloody hands.
There seemed to be attempts to stop him, asking why he did it, but the man, according to residents, only explained that the dog had bitten him, so he did.
The same initial version of the event was confirmed by Eglė Kačinskienė, Chief Specialist of the Communication Branch of the Alytus County Chief Police Station. “The man explained that the dog had injured him. The man was found to be drunk at 3.00 per thousand,” said a police spokeswoman.
The 41-year-old man, who has been detained so far, is still in custody, but residents fear what will happen when he returns. They said the man had another dog, so he was concerned that nothing bad would happen to him either.
And Tuesday night’s events will be memorable for many. People testified that they heard the dog’s screech and then saw it lying on the ground. Soon, a resident of the apartment building left and took the dog’s body to throw it into a container.
“It took a long time to get the dog out of the container. Now new containers, they won’t open as much,” residents said.
People claimed that a man had heard several stories about a man throwing his dog out the window, but did not expect it to be so cruel.
“It happens that barns and screams can be heard from his house. Sometimes various objects” fly “through the window. But doing this is incomprehensible,” said people who knew the man.
AlytusPlius.lt recalls that the male threw the dog out of the third-floor window on Tuesday, at approximately 10:40 p.m. Police have launched a pre-trial investigation into the incident.
