The exotic island airport views surprised Lithuania: naked and barefoot passengers are normal here

Few people know a tenth of the planet’s enslaved drug: the Betel palm nut. As soon as you start chewing on a walnut, your heart begins to beat faster, you sweat, the hair on your hand swells, and euphoria floods you. Saliva also begins to accumulate in the mouth, causing people who chew nuts to spit where they fall. I talked more about the popularity of this nut in the previous text.

An hour later, after recovering from a chewed nut, I flew to the even smaller town of Dekai, from where I began my journey to a settlement in the Korowai swamp tribe.

At a miniature airport, I look forward to a flight to another town on the island of Papua. Suddenly, a local representative of the Dani tribe approaches, completely naked and only covering his pride with a pumpkin. I have already said that men of this gender use penis gourds (penis shells) – kotekus. Some take the largest, others the smallest. It probably depends on the “assets” you have.

Most of the people at the airport were very surprised. I asked him if I could take a picture of him. After receiving a favorable nod, I sat next door and took pictures. Not every day at the airport you will see a naked person.

On international flights it is strictly forbidden to fly naked due to hygiene requirements, whether it is a traditional garment or not. This man from the tribe flew to another even smaller village with an eight-seater plane.

I think someone bought him a ticket. Maybe a son who went out into society and graduated because the tickets are quite expensive. Pleasantly surprised, I get on a propeller plane and fly to another village. The flight takes only half an hour. The plane does not rise, it winds between the tops of the mountains, it dives into the clouds.

The window offers incredible views. Virtually all the passengers on the plane, half of whom, by the way, are naked, clinging to the window.

At the airport, I dance to the rhythm of a truck and head towards town. The weather is good, no longer, I feel like a convertible. Of course, I come to see the local market. I buy fresh fruits and vegetables. I “left” ten passion flowers in my stomach. They are very sweet here.

A crowd of people (about two hundred people) walks down the street. After listening, I found out that there were recent fights and one guy killed another. Now all the family and friends have met with as many people as possible and go to the parents of the aggressor to ask them to pay for the murdered. If you don’t get the money, the culprit’s head will suffer …

Continue waiting seven hours by boat. How deliberately the climate deteriorates again. One hour the sun shines and the next it is raining. And so on all day. But the weather is warm, so it’s not scary. As you cruise along the shore in a motor boat, you can see papuas standing up. Some greet, others fish. But everyone can see what too pale faces there are on the ship.

On the shore there are wooden houses covered with palm leaves. If you couldn’t hear the sound of a motorboat and the butt didn’t turn into wood, these 7 hours of swimming would be a real meditative break. You are lying in the boat, the water is rippling, the jungle is changing nearby, the birds are flying, the driver goes out, pushes the boat stuck in the shallow water, the sun is shining, which could be better.
