As Police Department spokesman Ramūnas Matonis told BNS, the report on the attempted robbery was received on Monday at 7 pm 16 minutes.

“We received a report that in Lukiškės Square it was noticed that an attempt was made to break into the house of the mobile polling station after night. Nothing has been stolen, the loss is being determined,” said R. Matonis.

According to him, the people were unable to enter the house, a pre-trial investigation was launched for an attempted robbery.

Laura Matjošaitytė, chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), said that the incident was unpleasant, but that the only loss was damaged property belonging to the Vilnius City Municipality.

“We don’t keep anything at night, there are no bulletins, so those who tried to do those things probably wouldn’t have been worth it. But this is owned by the Vilnius municipality and it probably wouldn’t be worth destroying foreign property,” he told BNS .

Voting began early Monday morning in the second round of the Seimas elections.
