After officers began searching for the stolen vehicle, at 9.55 pm a report was received from citizens passing by that in Kaišiadorys district, driving from the town of Mediniai Strėvininkai, after passing the town of Morkūnai, a Volvo car, whose driver could be drunk.
When officers from the Kaišiadorys District Police Station went to the specified area, a damaged Volvo V70 was found on the side of the road. A young man (born in 1997) was found in the driver’s seat, who was determined to be slightly drunk with an alcohol meter: 0.48 percent.
The man admitted to officers that he had stolen the car and was driving it, but did not remember where and when he was driving, claiming to have consumed alcohol during the day. The young man was arrested and transferred to a police station. He was placed in custody on Tuesday for a written commitment not to leave.
According to article 178 of the Penal Code. 2 d. the guy faces up to six years in prison.
The investigation is organized and led by prosecutors from the 4th Division of the Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office.
