“I would like to inform you that at the beginning of the month I submitted a request to the Attorney General’s Office for the allegedly illegal and violative conduct of my immediate superior, the Minister of the Environment. After examining and evaluating the information and documents presented by me, the Attorney General’s Office granted me the status of rapporteur, so I have been protected by the Law for the Protection of Rapporteurs for some time, “O. Vėbrienė told reporters on Monday.
“The minister knows this information, he is informed and he felt it, because for some time some attacks have subsided, but it was not long before he got back on track,” added the head of the AAD.
O. Vėbrienė admitted that the activities of the institution under his direction have been paralyzed for some time.
“The activities of the institution have been paralyzed for some time, everything happened before Christmas. But my initial desire to turn this institution, which once became a nest, into a watchdog that meets the highest management standards, has not waned. It was not rejected for me, I did it, I intend to continue doing it ”, assured O. Vėbrienė.
He said it was difficult to implement changes in current circumstances, but stressed that finding a common language was necessary in the public interest.
“I admit that it is difficult and complicated, but I am a career civil servant and I will not choose a boss. (…) Inevitably, if we want to implement the Government’s program, strategic changes, operational changes, we must seek a common language and look up, not personal interests, not political and partisan interests, but public interests, ”said O. Vėbrienė .
He said he was not thinking of resigning.
“(…) The team believes in me, fellow inspectors, I receive messages of support, so I can’t stop thinking about my leaving. Definitely not, ”said the head of the AAD.
Environment Minister Simon Gentvilas announced a while ago that he had signed an order to change the structure of the AAD.
He said that AAD’s management team was not formed through competitions, at that time competitions for ordinary inspectors were announced and their positions were not filled by more than 70. Mr. Gentville also said that he received complaints from employees about the measures that were being taken against him.
According to the AAD, all officials and employees working in the department were admitted in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts.
