According to the Ministry of National Defense, the head of the Ministry’s International Relations and Operations Group, Karol Alex, briefed the Belarusian Defense Attaché in Lithuania, Yuri Charin, in a meeting held on Wednesday.

The representative of the Ministry of National Defense emphasized that all the exercises carried out in the country are defensive in nature and are not directed against any state, including Belarus. It was also emphasized that Lithuania, when reporting on military exercises, demonstrates transparency and expects the same from its neighbors, ”says the Ministry of National Defense.

According to the Ministry, the same information was presented today to the representatives of the Department of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus by the Lithuanian Defense Attaché residing in Minsk.

Each spring and fall, one of the most important Land Forces exercises, the Iron Wolf, takes place with the NATO Front Forces Battalion. Also in autumn, the exercises “Flaming Sword”, “Iron Wolf 2”, “Smart Griffon”, “Strong Griffon” and others are carried out.

The Ministry notes that the military training of the ground forces is focused on the armed defense of Lithuanian land territory, peacetime tasks and international operations.

Mass protests against the government of the authoritarian Belarusian leader Aliaksandr Luashenko and the falsification of the results of the presidential elections on August 9 continue for several weeks in Belarus. Mr. Lukashenko has spoken of the military threat posed by NATO and the United States and declared full combat readiness in key units of the country’s armed forces, as well as the deployment of additional forces on the western border of Belarus.
