The final of the Queen’s Cup between Vilnius “Kibirkšties-MRU” and Kaunas “Aisčių-LSMU”, scheduled for Saturday, has been suspended. In accordance with the COVID-19 safety guidelines, the finalists were investigated the day before, after which a positive case was identified among Vilnius residents.

“We were all waiting for the final, but according to the safety protocol and the investigation of the basketball players, it is regrettable that a case of COVID-19 has been detected,” said Giedrius Gustas, director of the Huawei Women’s League. “We plan to play the final of the Copa de la Reina in the next three weeks.”

The Queen’s Cup final in Panevėžys was planned on the first day of the Citadele King’s Mindaugas Cup (Citadele KMT) competition, on Saturday from 7.30pm.

During the last two years (2019 and 2020), the Queen’s Cup was raised by Aistė-LSMU.

The COVID-19 infection detected by the Kibirkšties-MRU team also postponed Friday’s meeting of the club’s substitute players, the Kibirkšties-VKM basketball players, the Huawei Women’s League and the LCC International University.
