By ruling on March 30, the Panevėžys court arrested 2,000 people from N. Venckienė for six months. 341.97 euros, which he owes as unpaid wages for his work as a judge during the economic crisis. At the end of this period, in late September, the court extended the detention for another three months.

N. Venckienė had also submitted an application to the Court of Appeal in relation to the first six-month period in the spring, at which time his appeal was rejected. In her complaint, the MEP stated that she needed money due to her difficult financial situation, but that, in the opinion of the Court of Appeal, this was not a sufficient reason not to restrict her funds.
In the opinion of the panel of judges that examined the complaint, and this time the restrictions on Ms Venckienė’s funds are reasonably and legally enforced.
“The temporary restriction of property rights, which was applied for six months and extended to nine months, is not too long in terms of important aspects of the case and does not violate the provisions of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms or the Code of Criminal Procedure “, the court ruled.
According to the court, the panel of judges evaluated not only the interests of N. Venckienė, but also the interests of the victims, as well as the fact that the former politician had been hiding from justice for a long time, thus limiting the possibility to investigate the case.
In the pending case before the Panevėžys court, N. Venckienė was charged with non-execution of a court decision, resisting a police officer, obstruction of a bailiff and face to face with Laimute Stankūnaitė.
N. Venckienė denies these accusations and describes them as politically motivated.
