The Panevėžys Regional Court was replaced by the intensive supervision previously applied to former judge Neringa Venckienė with a milder preventive detention measure: the obligation to periodically register with a police institution.

As announced in a court press release on June 19. The defendant was instructed to register at the Kaunas District Chief Police Station every Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. at 3 p.m.
It should be noted that the decision of the panel of judges to mitigate the preventive detention of N. Venckienė is motivated by the fact that the accused has been under intensive supervision for almost half a year, during which time the court has not received any notification that N. Venckienė has violated the conditions of this pre-trial detention.
The former judge is charged with four offenses, three of which are misdemeanors and one a misdemeanor.
“Before her arrest, she lived in the United States for six years, where she learned about the criminal proceeding against her. Through such actions, the court is convinced that she avoided this criminal proceeding. Therefore, the court believes that it is still important to ensure the participation of the accused in the proceedings and the unimpeded examination of this case.According to the court, registration with the police along with other preventive detention measures for N. Venckienė – 10 thousand. A security deposit 1000 euros and the seizure of identity documents can help achieve these goals, “the court said.
It is also observed that N. Venckienė is obliged to adequately fulfill the duties assigned to him, to participate in the judicial hearings, not to hinder the course of the procedure and not to commit new criminal acts. Ms. Venckienė was also warned that a stricter detention measure could be given for breach of duty.
