“Every track, every race is a new story. Unfortunately, my story in this race is such that I finished it with a crutch. The next stages await us and we hope to see you very soon,” says A. Gelažninkas optimistically.

After the examinations and investigation in the hospital, Arūnas returned to the bivouac, there he inspected the motorcycle and awaited the end of his colleague Modestas Siliūnas.

“The end of my motorcycle didn’t hurt much, the devices that I probably hit and face folded hit harder. From the rest of the road book data, I fell 162 kilometers. That’s where the ‘bad’ spot was marked. Probably in somewhere there and I sneaked into all those pits. And it was so the sand was very white, the sun was coming out high and there were no shadows. I realized a big hole too late, I hit it much faster. As a result, the whole motorcycle got stuck in the sand ”, says the motorcyclist.

Speaking of the motorcycle, Arūnas was already standing next to the motorcycle, but the injuries the athlete sustained will only be revealed through investigations in Lithuania, and he intends to return in a couple of days.

“According to preliminary data, the patella was split and the lower part of the eye was split, which is slightly displaced downwards. Therefore, it is not clear that perhaps something else should be done with it, but hopefully it is enough to wait for it to heal. Today he still did a study of the knee ligaments, which showed that everything is fine with the ligaments and they will heal. Of course, when I return, I will do an MRI to find out exactly everything, ”says the athlete.

This track was not the only one that was extremely difficult for him, several other athletes did not finish the race either.

“Today the track killed two more athletes. Sultan Balooshi, my friend’s brother, fell in a straight line at high speed. The leader fell due to an engine failure. So, talking to the athletes, it is clear that This Baja is really very complicated and the Czech, who arrived at Dakar this year for the tenth, said that he is much more tired here in one day than in Dakar. It was very hard for him, he fell a lot and reached the finish line with a bloody nose I was expecting him to be the fastest here, but yesterday he was driving behind me all day and I think today I would have taken care of him, ”predicted Arūnas Gelažninkas.

According to preliminary data, Arūnas student Modestas Siliūnas, who ran for the first time in a competition of this level, was ranked 15 today, and in the overall ranking he remained in the middle, around 18 place.

“It just came to my knowledge then. I brought Arūnas the finish. There were many dunes, both large and small. The first experience is very strange. Difficult but enjoyed. Let’s see if maybe soon we will be able to participate in similar competitions somewhere”, says M Siliūnas happy.
