ESPN announces that Jason Kidd will be the Mavs’ new helmsman, with Nico Harrison taking over.
Kidd has worked for the Los Angeles Lakers coaching staff for the past two years, previously serving as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.
Kidd is a Mavericks legend. It was the Texas Club that called up the American in the NBA Rookie Exchange, where the defender played during the periods 1994-1996 and 2008-2012. In 2011, the 48-year-old Kidd won the NBA with the Mavs.
At the time, Harrison was one of Nike’s executives in recent years.
Key Mavericks jobs were vacated when Donnie Nelson and Rick Carlisle resigned.
