The head of the car service department located in Vilnius Verkių Street says that more and more drivers are coming to Vilnius who want to reserve time to change tires. However, a frequent driver in the capital is currently plagued with another question: how to change the wheels of a car if they are in another municipality?
“I’m from Palanga, in Palanga and I change my tires. I usually leave them in service for the next season. Therefore, I think the problem is more relevant for students who live in a different city than changing their tires, ”said student Justas Valatka.
According to the representative of the car service, changing tires in a car service costs on average about 40 euros. And when you buy new tires, you may have to pay a higher amount; for example, for a Volkswagen Golf car, the minimum price for a set of tires is around 116 euros.
“I think 120 euros is really a lot of money for a student. And not all students work in addition to their studies. It is possible that these people go through the checkpoints, but it is not clear what people would do if they went beyond that. city ”, considered the interlocutor.
Police say they don’t yet know if officers would miss drivers going to another municipality to change tires. According to them, this requires an additional decision on the part of the operations manager.
The tire change period revealed another problem. Recently, there have been more and more reports from the public about improper tire disposal – irresponsible drivers leave them directly next to garbage bins.
Romualdas Ambraška, representative of the Vilnius waste system manager, said that most of the unauthorized disposal of tires occurs in more remote locations.
“Where the municipal waste collection site bins are located, fewer violations are noticed. That’s where the tires are, “he said.
He recalled that a person can dispose of four tires in bulky landfills for free.
As a reminder, the summer tire season begins on April 1. Until April 9, drivers driving studded winter tires must replace them with summer tires, otherwise there is a risk of cancellation of fines and roadworthiness tests.
