The decision of the Kaišiadorys-Elektrėnai District Election Commission, approved by the CEC, states that the Seimas candidate violated the law by organizing a trip to Liepaja by members of the Kaišiadorys district community of the Lithuanian Pensioners Union “Bočiai “.
The investigation revealed that, although the trip was paid for by L. Matkevičienė’s son, it was initiated by “the candidate for the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania”.
It should also be noted that the research team did not find that during this trip voters were encouraged to participate or not in the Seimas elections, to vote for the Seimas candidate of the Republic of Lithuania Laimutė Matkevičienė or for the Union list of Greens and Peasants of Lithuania. members received a property benefit, ”says the CEC decision.
The parliamentarian herself does not agree with this assessment. As L. Matkevičienė is quoted in the document, the Bočiai members themselves invited her to make the trip, but “later it became clear that the president of the association did not allow the use of the bus for the trip, which greatly disappointed the Bočiai “.
She says she helped find a sponsor who booked and organized the trip. This was done by her son Dalius Matkevičius, who allocated 300 euros for the trip.
“Everyone has the right to provide support and to transfer the subject of support voluntarily and free of charge to their recipients, (…) and donation should not be equated with” bribery “, – comments L. Matkevičienė.
The decision of the CEC can be appealed to the Vilnius Regional Administrative Court within one month.
