The CEC terminated the investigation into the name of the teacher used by French during the elections

The Commission made such a decision “in the absence of a decision from the competent authority or other documents directly confirming that V. Prackietis had illegally used and had no right to use the teacher’s pedagogical title awarded in 2016.”

Seven commissioners voted in favor of the decision on Friday, three against and one abstained.

The CEC reviewed V. Pranckietis’ appointment as a professor in political advertising for the Liberal Movement after receiving an anonymous complaint that the former head of Parliament misled voters by running as a professor because he had no such right.

At Aleksandras Stulginskis University, which was attached to Vytautas Magnus University, V. Pranckietis received the title of professor before the 2016 Seimas elections.

Elected to the Seimas for the first term, V. Pranckietis was removed from the post of professor, but assumes that he still has the right to use that name, as his certification is valid for five years.
