A catastrophic rain hit Jurbarkas on Saturday night: monthly rains in the city fell in two hours, the Hydrometeorological Service reported.

According to her, from 19 to 21 hours. 89.8 mm of precipitation fell at Jurbarkas.

It is considered catastrophic if it rains within 12 hours. or more than 80 mm of precipitation falls in a shorter period of time.

Meanwhile, at the Jurbarkas meteorological station 111.7 mm of rain have already been touched during this day.

When it rained, the water traditionally covered the city center, part of Darius and Girėno streets. This is not the first time that this part of the city has been turned into a river, because the rainwater drainage simply cannot cope with the amount of runoff.

While this was not the first flood of its kind, some drivers tried to cross the street flooded with cars and damaged them.

Rain and floods destroyed part of the city’s infrastructure.

In the coming days, the heat will subside and the typical Lithuanian summer weather will return.
