According to the expert, people driving older diesel cars should now be in a hurry.

“If their market price is around 1000 euros, it is likely that after July 1, such vehicles will simply be more difficult to sell. Owners will not want to give them away, and no one will be willing to pay the desired price, as they will have to paying additional tens of euros at about half the purchase price. This is why this car sales tax is being criticized, “says M.Buzelis.

In his opinion, the car registration tax, which will take effect on July 1, is more like a simple fee in the first place than a solution to the current problem.

“It is wrong that the registration fee does not force you to choose a cleaner car. Unless you encourage you not to change your vehicle too often, I do not understand why this is considered a big problem,” says the expert.

Interest in automobiles has rebounded.

The expert points out that interest in automobiles has already recovered and is reaching pre-crisis levels today. It is true that there are fewer physical transactions.

“I am glad that both used and new car dealerships can already function. The situation is a little sadder for those who end up selling cars previously brought to Lithuania, because bringing many cars is a difficult task at the moment,” says M.Buzelis.
