More than two dozen kilograms of cannabis drugs from the illicit trade have been seized.

The police officers, having received data on people involved in the illegal distribution of drugs in Vilnius, began to work intensively and analyze the information received about them, their connections, places of residence or visit, vehicles used and lifestyle.

As information became systematized, the drug distribution network began to emerge and ingenious drug / money transfer schemes were devised.

However, the officials who closely monitored the entire situation and evaluated it quickly understood the mechanism of the crime.

After identifying the evidence of a crime, a pre-trial investigation was launched for illegal possession and distribution of a large quantity of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances (Article 260 (3) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania).

Only after sufficient data had been collected on the very serious crimes being committed and the perpetrators was it decided to arrest them.

In a non-public area, in one of the districts of the capital, drug trafficking was registered “not from hand to hand”, but with a specially selected vehicle.

During the first phase, the police officers detained a person who had bought a large quantity of cannabis, about 2 kg of the drug.

A search of his garage revealed purchased cannabis, more than a couple hundred grams of dried mushrooms containing psilocybin, and several hundred grams of tablets believed to contain the psychotropic substance MDMA.

The forensic specialists who conducted the investigations into the object will determine which specific psychotropic or narcotic substances were seized. Along with this person, another person was arrested and to whom a small quantity of drugs was distributed.

The next day, the police officers arrested two more people. They were caught unexpectedly, so the detainees were unable to dispose of the drugs.

Approximately 20 kg of the drug – cannabis and its parts, approximately 1 kg of the drug – cocaine and psychotropic substances – LSD leaflets (“brands”) were found and seized in the premises used by the detainees and in the rented apartments. This last substance is particularly dangerous, which can cause hallucinations even half a year after its use.

If the detainee did not open the safe during the search, the police officers had to use firefighters and rescue personnel: they broke into the apartment’s safe, which contained psychotropic substances.

Suspected detainees were notified of the suspicions of crimes under article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 3, two of them were placed in preventive detention.

The value of the drugs seized in the street trade exceeds 300,000 euros. The Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania provides prison sentences of 10 to 15 years for specific offenses. It is estimated that there may be more detainees.

The pre-trial investigation is controlled and organized by prosecutors from the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
