Detectives searching for the woman found the body in the Kent woods on Wednesday.

“Now it can be confirmed that these are the remains of Sarah Everard,” said Nick Ephgrave, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.

A Metropolitan Police officer is suspected of murdering S. Everard. He is currently in custody.

“The man is still being held in a London police station, suspected of committing these crimes,” Ephgrave said.

Evardard disappeared on March 3 in South London. There have been great searches in this part of the city.

Her body was found more than 50 miles from where she was last seen. A police officer was arrested Tuesday night on the charges.

Mr. Everard described the woman’s family as an example and said that she had always been good and strong.

“Sarah was a bright and beautiful woman, a great daughter and sister. She was kind, caring and loving. She always thought of others and had a wonderful sense of humor,” her family said.

On Thursday, police observers confirmed that an independent investigation had been launched into the police actions to which the suspect had contributed.

“I understand that society is hurt and angry. This is how my colleagues and I feel,” said N. Ephgrave.

The disappearance of women has led thousands of women to share their experiences and advice on social media.

Many spoke of the precautions they have already taken as a habit to protect themselves when walking down the street. They expressed anger and frustration that women cannot feel safe these days.

“I understand that women in London and across the country, especially in places where Sarah has disappeared, will be alarmed and scared,” Ephgrave said. He added that the police forces will be strengthened in London.

The social network Facebook organizes the event “Let’s go back to the streets”, which should take place on Saturday at 6 in the afternoon. England time. The march would take place at the site of the city where Sarah disappeared.

It is not yet clear if the event can be held legally due to UK COVID-19 restrictions prohibiting public gatherings.
