On Thursday, M. Puidokas, a member of the Seimas Labor Party faction, announced that violence had been used against STT officials during a search at his office.
The politician claimed that when he refused to hand over his mobile phones, the officers pressured him, began to suffocate, ripped his pants and scratched his arm.
Following this report by a member of the Seimas, the STT reported that it was conducting a pre-trial investigation into the attempt by M. Puidokas’ assistant Kęstutis Motiečius to bribe Conservative MP Matas Maldeikis.
The STT claimed that its employees had to forcibly pick up phones from Seimas member M. Puidokas because the parliamentarian refused to comply with the officials’ legal demands.
An internal investigation has been launched for this event.
According to the investigation data, M. Puidokas’ assistant, Kęstutis Motiečius, offered M. Maldeikis 50 thousand at the Seimas facilities. bribery for a member of the Seimas to personally support and influence other colleagues to suspend or indefinitely postpone the adoption of the draft amendment to the Tax Law on Lotteries and Gambling.
In the present case, allegations of bribery and influence peddling were also made against Samoil Kac, owner of the gambling and betting company Tete-A-Tete.
The investigation is controlled and directed by prosecutors from the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
