An independent microbiological research laboratory in Great Britain has confirmed that the masks made by the SBA group company Utenos Trikotažas with special technology destroy more than 96% of viruses and other microorganisms that have entered their surface. Due to their antimicrobial properties, these masks do not need to be washed daily, it is enough several times a week.
This feature is given to the masks created by the company using special Swiss technology successfully applied in production, which is designed to strengthen the resistance of textile products to various infections. Its effectiveness against the coronavirus agent is up to 99.9%. Currently it is one of the most effective technologies that provide antiviral properties to textiles, whose effectiveness, sustainability and safety have been confirmed by research, certifications and important awards.
“In March, we were one of the first textile manufacturers in Lithuania to quickly start producing face masks. Since then, we have been very interested in advanced innovations that would enhance the protective properties of face masks. Today, we offer our customers the best we have been able to create using the latest technologies currently available and our many years of production experience, ”Petras Jašinskas, Director of Utenos Trikotažas AB, is quoted in the press release.
The new collection of Utenos Trikotažas face masks was complemented by two different models: monochromatic face masks and with various patterns.
“In addition to the additional protective technologies, we paid no less attention to finding the right design to make the masks as comfortable as possible. The design process used innovative 3D modeling technology to create a shape that perfectly fits the face. We have created masks of different sizes and the special straps allow you to further adjust the elasticity of the product, ”says Renata Varaneckienė, brand manager at Utena.
According to the specified care instructions, that is, when the masks are washed at a temperature not exceeding 40 ° C, their properties are maintained for up to 30 wash cycles. Due to their antimicrobial properties, these masks do not need to be washed daily, it is enough several times a week, depending on the intensity of use.
Others will join
Other companies are following a similar path. Kaunas UAB Garlita, as already mentioned, together with the Austrian raw material production company Schoeller GmbH has developed the Fresh technology, which confers antibacterial and antiviral properties to wool yarn and wool blend. Studies show that 99% of coronaviruses killed in freshly processed yarns die.
Kaunas Textile UAB Omiteksas creates materials with antiviral properties, from which it will be possible to sew protective clothing and masks. According to Vydas Damalakas, a shareholder in Omniteks, the knitted fabrics created and certified products from them will save budgetary funds by forgoing one-time measures, which are mainly imported from China.
