Vilkyškių Oak Alley
Pagėgiai Municipality, Vilkyškių sen., (55.102247, 22.128081)
You will find an alley of oaks of exceptional beauty in the Rambynas Regional Park, Vilkyškiai Geomorphological Reserve. The alley consists of up to 39 oak trees, the volume of which reaches up to 4 m, and the trunks of the trees are up to 20 m high. Interestingly, it is still unclear for what purpose this alley was planted. Perhaps there was a mansion that once stood in this place, or perhaps the alley leads to the old Vilkyškiai Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in the forest at the end of the alley? At present, all that is known is that in the warm time of year, the alley looks like a fairy tale, the branches of the oaks as if clinging to the vault of heaven. In autumn and winter, the alley seems extremely mysterious and mystical, as does its origins.

A unique group of trees also grows in the Sirvėtai Regional Park, the Šventa Landscape Reserve. In the park of the Šventa mansion, which once belonged to the Civinskis family, trees were planted until July 30, from which the goal was to create a gazebo. Not in vain they say “Bend the tree when you are young”, since they were planted in July, little by little they have begun to bend outwards by tying weights. The weights were heavy, so the direction of the trees’ growth changed over time, and the trees began to look like a real gazebo with clustered crowns and distant trunks. The owner of the mansion, Marija Civinskienė, is said to have enjoyed entertaining, relaxing, and drinking tea at this July gazebo. When Mary was seriously ill, the mercenaries took her to the gazebo, where she stood all day staring at the crisp treetops.

We will also find an alley of linden trees reminiscent of the times of mansions in the Krekenava Regional Park, in the Nevėžis Middle Landscape Reserve. This alley is protected by the state only recently, only in 2007. Liepų Alley is one of the most important green areas of the old Daniliškis mansion. The length of the alley is 263 m, and up to 360 small-leaved lime trees grow here. Once upon a time there was a very exclusive park in this place with terraces that flow into the river and slopes of springs. The park was known as early as the 16th century. and the alley that grew there was called its greatest ornament. The alley looks extremely romantic, which is why it is very popular with lovers.

We can also find a unique tree gazebo in the Aukštadvaris Regional Park, Aukštadvaris Urban Reserve. The gazebo consists of 20 linden trees, and the average volume of logs is about 2.20 m. The trunks of the linden trees that make up the gazebo are so tall and massive that it may turn out that this gazebo was designed to sit on giants rather than humans. The giant linden viewpoint is not the only unique botanical object in this stately park. One of the largest chestnuts in Lithuania also grows here: the chestnut from Aukštadvaris Manor Park.
