According to her, while at a safe distance from the animal enclosure, the buffalo was hooked by a buffalo and thrown into the air. On August 13, when I went with my daughter to the Mini Zoo at the HBH complex, my 2.5-year-old daughter was injured in a buffalo. While the daughter was a meter from the enclosure, the buffalo suddenly emerged from the gap in the fence and, hanging from the horn behind its belly, drove it into the air.
Within a minute, the boy was taken by ambulance to Klaipeda Children’s Hospital, to which we are very grateful for the prompt response. HBH Palanga – I do not know how sincere he was in the whole situation, but I could not recognize that the enclosures are not suitable or that the condition of the animal is not good, that he suddenly became aggressive, but I heard loud Phrases that we should be glad of that the police did not intervene, according to HBH, if the police initiate an investigation into the incident, I may be a victim of the rights of the child.
Everything was crowned by the irresponsible work of the Lithuanian police, who not only did not contact me when they went to the scene, but when asked if the incident was registered, they said that I confirmed that I had no complaints, despite who had not even been contacted.
I mean, at 22:00 I’m sitting in the Kretinga Police Station, because the “nice” ladies told me to come here by phone, because our problems are supposed to be here.
The boy was injured both physically and emotionally. And those responsible, in my view, are not in this situation.
And today we are going to celebrate our second birthday.

And, I mean, it all really happened very unexpectedly, because the buffalo came out really abnormally a lot and in my perception the enclosures had to be made so that the animal didn’t slide around behind, because there are enclosures for that. He came out unexpectedly and threw my daughter five feet into the air, got up and hit the ground with all his weight. I don’t want more than one mother to see the image of a child hanging from the horn in the air.
And it was in the buffalo enclosure where there were no signs. Other moms wrote to me that the situation was exactly the same with buffalo and llamas, that there were no major safety issues, and HBH somehow really dismissed it. We are definitely not the first to be hurt by an animal, ”he says.
The company admits no fault
Saulė Barisienė says that the company is not responsible for the incident. According to her, the employees lack responsibility and sincerity: HBH Palanga now blames the woman for allegedly harming the company by publicizing the event.
“HBH now accuses us of hurting them by publishing everything and they are suffering it. The big picture is clear: there is a lack of safety, liability, or informational warnings. It is written to the donkey that the donkey is biting, but everyone knows, even without signs, that the donkey may scream somewhere.
HBH doesn’t see much of his guilt now, so to speak. Their excuse is that those animals are peaceful and I understand that to be the case. But they sell food, realizing that the animals will be fed, and if you feed the animal, it will not stay a kilometer away.
When my son turned around, I stood one step away from her, it was a matter of seconds and in my words “let’s go even further” because I saw that something was already happening here. That’s when I grabbed the boy, a friend called the ambulance right away, and HBH only found out after my husband called and asked, “Do you know what just happened here?”
In a word, no one saw or heard, everyone was surprised that something happened here, although he came quickly with headlights and took him to the Klaipeda Children’s Hospital, ”says the girl’s mother.
He declined to comment on the situation.
Representatives for HBH Palanga declined to comment on the situation. They claim that parents themselves are responsible for the safety of children.
